Excuse me?

I sold newspapers over the phone. I have solicited donations for many organizations over the phone. I get that people are just doing their job...

So the phone rings..."this is a call about your current credit account, there is no problem with your current account. We are calling to lower your interest rate."
Fine I'll play along. "push 1 to speak to a representative"

Young guy says, "are you calling about lowering your interest rate."

I say "yes"

He says, "do you have at least 3,000 in debt"

I say, kindly, and with a smile: "I need to be taken off your list. I am getting a few of these calls a day."

He says, "Why did you lie?"

EXCUSE ME!!!

you said you called about lowering your interest rate

I AM responding to the call about lowering your interest rate. I need to be taken off your list.

But you said...

NO,
I don't answer to you and I need to be taken off the list immediately. (I hung up)

AARGH!!!!!!! I want to be nice. Why can't people respect that! I'm glad that I bit my tongue and wasn't more direct and didn't engage him longer.
There's a glitch in my patience for today. Accusing me of lying? Like I was wasting his time. Them are fighting words

Oh wow, I would have gone off on him so fast! That actually happened to me, with a company that tried to pose as my car loan lender!

WOW! That's horrible. I give you credit for not going off. I would've demanded to speak with a manager.

I'll scream along with you! Aaahhh!!! I hate these dang calls too. I get so many of them inspite of being on the no calls list. They're persistent like pestilence!

oh my! I can't believe he said that! Wow! i am always nice too, but I have had too much. If I don't recognize the number on caller id, I just pick it up and hang up. It is waaaaaaayyyy annoying!
i have gotten mean in my old age...lol

Start speaking in another language (or make one up). We have done that before and, while it may not keep the calls from coming permanently, we at least have a good laugh. Or, you can say, "Your voice sounds really familiar. Is this JOHN from Bedwetters' Camp??"

Hey... don't like those calls either. Now in Spain I just answer them in English or even better in Norwegian! And when they can't speak the language I just go on and on until THEY hang up! Hihi

Just visiting you from SITS - hope you have a great weekend. Feel free to come visit me at SweeterLiving, I love visitors!

Greetings from Spain

Delighted to meet you! Just found your site via CSAHM. I just started this blogging adventure a few months ago, but continue to be amazed at the joy, encouragement, and faith that I find.

Keep writing, the world is reading.
