Vallarta

Went to a drs appt that could have been the beginning of a really BIG deal. All turned out well but I was still shooken up. Was in the same town as Costco etc but just didnt have any money to spend or want to. My son and I walked quickly through our favorite GoodWill. And I heard my 13 year old say, "hey" like he was greeting an old friend. He came accross this:

Our long lost friend sells is a Pasta Serving Dish in the Vallarta pattern from Pier One. It sells on Replacements.com for 94.95. 

I also see them in her house

 Molly Ringwald (Anne Juergens  on Secret Life of the American Teenager)  and feel a little stalkerish. In many episodes someone is holding a Vallarta coffee cup nad you can often see the dishes displayed in a hutch in the background of kitchen scenes.

Washcloths by Madelyn

Our 10 year old daughter Madelyn wants lip gloss and silly bands and other silly things. I was raised by two strict people who lived through the depression. I am cheap. beyond cheap. I also dont have money to spend on these things.


I am not crafty. I really like the idea of WAHM. Of "stealing" little snippets of time while babies nap and between drying tears and wiping noses to make small crafts etc to add to the families extra money. Trouble is that I am not crafty.

Madelyn has been in an amazing Girls Club for a few years now and has learned some really neat things: baking, knitting, jump rope, camping, quilling, needlepoint, painting and crochet.

She has been hoarding yarn under her bed. (in a sealed plastic container) It bugged me. I tried to find a good parenting moment here. I found a pattern that seemed easy enough and made some prototypes. She is making washcloths to sell. We talked about 10% going to her Girls Club dues, 20% for tithe and needing to pay for supplies. There is a homeschool craft fair in the Fall and we are preparing for that. Then I got carried away and thought about Etsy. And a logo and business cards and blog giveaways and.....

I also dropped and broke my camera.

Today I tried to get my act together for her and took some pictures with a lame camera and posted to Etsy. There will be matching ribbon tied sets soon, more (hopefuly better pictures) and if money comes in a logo and some giveaways. Maybe some money for lip gloss and silly bands and popscicles from the ice cream man.

He is Risen! Need a banner?

I was really dissapointed when I FINALLY found my Easter boxes this year. I wanted more. I wanted to proclaim that "HE IS RISEN!" I wanted a really cool banner for our entry way but you see, I am NOT crafty and I forgot that and I attempted and attempted again and read tutorial after tutorial and then I went to Etsy. And saw this:

My snowmen are now hybernating and I got out our Valentine stuff. I;m drinking my mornig cup of Joe from a darling Starbucks cup from a dear friend. We are playing Playdough on heart shaped placemats and the mantle is done:)

I'm thinking about making cake pops for our Homeschool Groups Valentines party.

I don't feel on top of anything or very excited about Valentine's Day or any other big event coming up. Honestly, I'm glad to have life back to "normal days" No one sick. Not praying for anyone on the verge of dying. Not dealing with any major drama, just sweeping, laundry, diapers....

When my first son was born, a dear friend at church supplied me with a full wardrobe. I returned the clothes when my son outgrew them and her new son wore them. I have found some magical arrangements like this along my parenting road. Still, they are always gaps. When my daughter was born I scoured yard sales and thrift stores and found some great treasures. When she outgrew them, I sold them. With five children and an ever growing to do list I haven't kept up with clothes swapping like I wished I had. I have often wished for a group of friends who gathered and swapped clothes.
